Itinerary

Dimapur – Journey into Konyak Country

Arrive in Dimapur, Nagaland’s gateway city, and meet your local cultural escort. Begin a scenic drive into the hills towards Mon District, passing through dense forests and traditional settlements.

Along the way, observe the gradual transition from urban plains to remote tribal landscapes.

By late afternoon, arrive at a Konyak village, where you will be welcomed by your host community. Accommodation is in a simple yet comfortable village homestay/ Hotel.

Evening programme:

  • Cultural orientation on Konyak history, symbolism, and former warrior traditions
  • Informal interaction with villagers in a traditional hearth setting

Dinner featuring local Naga cuisine, prepared with seasonal ingredients

Overnight: Mon Town 

 

Longwa Village – Life on the India–Myanmar Border

After breakfast, travel to Longwa Village, one of the most extraordinary settlements in South Asia, uniquely positioned on the international border between India and Myanmar.

Highlights include:

  • Visit to the Angh’s (Chief’s) residence, which lies in two countries
  • Insight into the Morung (traditional youth dormitory system)
  • Guided interpretation of ancestral artifacts, weaponry, and ceremonial objects

Meet elders from the last tattooed generation, whose facial tattoos mark life stages, identity, and social status—explained sensitively within historical context.

Lunch is served in the village, followed by a guided walk through traditional houses, granaries, and surrounding fields.
